SHINING GRASSES

Layman Pang was sitting in his thatched cottage studying the sutras.
“Difficult, difficult, difficult,” he exclaimed.
“It is like trying to store ten bushels of sesame seed at the top of a tree.”

“Easy, easy, easy,” his wife, Laywoman Pang, retorted.
“It is like touching your feet to the floor when you get out of bed.”

“Neither difficult nor easy,” replied their daughter Ling Zhao.
“The teachings of the ancestors shine everywhere, on the tips of the hundred grasses.”

Ling Zhao, the daughter of famed 9th century, Chinese Zen householder, Layman Pang is said to have surpassed Pang’s Dharma understanding. Her life and teachings offer a shining example of how to be a Bodhisattva while fully engaged in the life of the world.

Starting in 2023, you are warmly welcome to join my new, online Dharma group, Shining Grasses. Through Shining Grasses I will offer teachings on walking the Bodhisattva Path in everyday life, including: monthly Full Moon ceremonies, dharma talks, seminars, and practice intensives.

In Buddhist communities around the globe, the full moon serves as an opportunity to express our commitment to being Bodhisattvas—clarifying our dedication to practicing wholeheartedly for the benefit all beings.

Together we will engage in this ancient ritual to clarify and express our aspiration and intentions. These sessions will be freely given, offered through donations or dana (the Pali word for generosity.)

Shining Grasses will begin with an online teaching and Full Moon Ceremony,
the first Thursday of each month.
